According to Stefanos Foundation, In a sad development, report from Taraba State says on Monday, 1st June, 2020, armed men killed a Senior pastor of the Christian Reformed Church (CRCN), Rev. Emmanuel Bileya and his wife, Juliana at Mararaba, in Donga Local Government Area of Taraba State.

Just few weeks ago, it was reported that Pastor Bileya wrote a letter to his friends in the United States, asking them to pray for his hometown in Nigeria, which has been immersed in tribal conflict between theTiv and the Jukun.

The letter read:

“Sometimes I feel like leaving Nigeria to work somewhere else that is more peaceful. I am tired of the insurgencies, communal clashes, armed robbery, kidnappings, poor economic that renders us live hand to mouth, and other serious vices.

Pastor Bileya, who had his Bachelor of Divinity at Theological College of Northern Nigeria, (TCNN) also had a chance to study in the United States at two different religious institutions; Calvin Theological Seminary in Grand Rapids, Michigan and The Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies in Jacksonville, Florida.

He was simply described as a man of the people.

The couple left behind 8 children as the wife was said to be pregnant with their 9th child before her death.

May their gentle souls rest in peace with the Lord and may God comfort their children, their family and the church at large for this great loss.
