Ex NANS Pres. Turkish Zone Madaki Zachariah blows hot over outrageous evacuation fee Students were asked to pay

A former president of the National Association of Nigerian Students Turkish Zone Com. Madaki Zachariah describes as unacceptable and outright exploitation of stranded Nigerians in Northern Cyprus and Turkey by the Embassy of Nigeria in Turkey. Mr. Madaki made his position known in a press statement made available to journalists following the release of a circular for prompt action by the Embassy dated 26th June 2020 notifying prospective evacuees to purchase their flight tickets at the cost of $1,300.00USD for Economy class and $1,800.00USD for business class using N455 exchange rate to a dollar.
In the light of this development, the media space became inundated with mixed reactions. On his part, the EX NANS President Comrade Madaki said it was unfortunate that at a time students are beginning to recover from harsh economic realities following the ravaging effects of Covid-19 the Nigerian Embassy is throwing the legitimate concerns and plight of stranded students to the wind. “This is a classical case of insensitivity.” The statement added.
Comrade Madaki further calls for the urgent intervention of Nigerian government and charges students to stand in solidarity with each other in order to overcome the unfortunate development.
Comrade Madaki assures of his commitment to working with visionaries and Progressive minds to add far-reaching value in the future of Nigerian Students.
