No fewer than 57 bandits were yesterday killed by the police in Katsina, the spokesman of the state police command, Isah Gambo, has said.
Briefing newsmen at the headquarters of the command, Gambo said the success was recorded under “Operation Katsina” code which is yielding the desired results.
He added also that an additional 200 counter terrorism officers have been deployed to boost the operation in various locations in the state.
According to him, men of the operation were ready to subdue all bandits terrorising the state, adding that what was more important was getting credible and confidential information from the people in the ongoing fight.
He said despite the fact that the bandits mingled with residents in the communities, it is disturbing that people didn’t come forward with information on their activities.
